Was able to convince the wife to allow a trade of my E500 for an E55 AMG!! I thought it would take a few months to sell her, but I closed the deal in 48 hrs. It was looking pretty iffy for a while. I closed the deal by looking at her very seriouslyl and saying: "If I don't get that car i'll die". She cracked up laughing, called me an idiot and said go ahead! The car hits the dock tomorrow, so I should have it in 7-10 days. Here's what it's got: Brilliant Silver/Charcoal (thought very hard about tectite), burl walnut, DVD NAV, CD changer, V60 phone (maybe this one will work right), Parktronic, (didn't want it, but the car had it),lighting package, trunk closer (also didn't want this)

Guess i'll be changing my sig. very soon.

 

why didnt you want the trunk closer and parktronic??

Last year my neighbour was watching a Motoring Program on television that was reviewing the very latest Bentley Arnarge. (Top Gear with Jeremy Clarkson)

He told his wife how depressed he was and needed something 'like that' to cheer him up.

When he went out for a walk she got on the telephone and ordered him a NEW Bentley Arnarge!!!!!!!!

What a car, what a wife.

When he came round to show us his new toy, and told the story I just wanted to know if he was planning on devorcing this lovely lady???

I'm off to tell the wife how depressed I am and desperately want a new E55 Estate

I don't know, just don't really think it's worth $1,500 for the 2 options. I'm perfectly capable of closing the trunk, and I think partkronic is more useful on an SUV or something like that. The car is expensive enough. I'd rather have the cash in my pocket. It seems like MB builds this car w/ these options pretty regularly, as most of the cars on netstar were coming up w/ them. I'd be curious to know how many people actually ordered them on their own.

 

If you want to save a few k's, why do you buy a brand spanki'n new car from the stealers instead of a 12-18 month old with low miles?

 

A few K in my pocket for options I don't want is one thing. A few K vs. a used or new car is another. Besides, we're only talking $1,500 here for the two options I mentioned.

That happens to be the exact same line that my five-year-old niece uses when she wants something. It doesn't work for her though and when I last checked she was still living. Congrats on the E55.

 

take pics.. is there a charge on the burl vs the black maple?

 

No there is no charge, you just have to ask for it. My dealer said that most of their E55's are going out w/burl. I almost got the E500 w/ sport package so I could get the black, but couldn't pull the trigger. I looked at another sport this week to take another look at the black, and again liked the burl better.
