Malfunction problem

I own a 2007 Mercedes E550 4Matic, and recently I was greeted by a malfunction message on my dashboard. Took it to a mechanic, and he pulled up a B-24/6 (right rear body acceleration sensor) code. I've been trying to find a part number and a instruction on how to replace it, if it's even possible to do it on my own. If anyone dealt with this before, any help is really appreciated! Thank You

Edit: I was able to find that it is located in the right rear wheelhouse behind the fender liner. Just don't know if I would be able to do it in my own garage?

Edit2: I think I've found a part number for that sensor 000-905-65-02, but please correct me if I'm wrong!

+1. Konigstiger was faster on the draw. I concur on his part number.

Thanks, part already ordered. Only question that remains is, are there are any other procedures that I should be aware of besides replacing this old sensor with a new one?

No disrespect intended, but (you knew that was coming) you now have the proper part number. Replacing the part is easy. I have no issue with helping to locate the part number as it was a good exercise in locating an obscure part in the parts catalog.

Now you've added to your first request and I say, "no". Invest in the parts catalog and WIS as Konigstiger and myself have done or plan on spending money to answer your question by investing in the EPC and WIS (or pay the dealer). To put it bluntly, figure it out. I am only doing this out of the kindness of my heart. (I can't speak for Kongistiger. He does, however, always has informative posts and I make it a point to read every one.)

Again, no disrespect intended. If you're as smart as you think you are, we've pointed you in the right direction; it is now up to you to research, locate the data, and implement the solution. There is a lot of chaff, but you will learn a lot.

Those of us with knowledge will eventually leave this forum; we need to groom replacements who can mentor the newbies who ask questions that make you think...

I was finally able to replace my faulty sensor, even though my malfunction message since then appeared only once! Since I've received my new part last week it was pretty tough to find time to actually do it. Just like guys above said it was as simple as taking off right rear wheelhouse and replacing old sensor with a new one. Now I'm just hoping that my malfunction message won't appear again!

Thanks again konigstiger & bbirdwell !
