trying to connect bluetooth

I have a 2007 ml350 4 matic. bought the bluetooth module for center counsel. The module will not power up when i press the connect button. The radio says no phone connected, the dash says phone is inoperative. I'm confident that the bluetooth unit is properly inserted in cradle. Any suggestions>

Well I believe you're in the wrong forum. For the W211, there were two models, a 2nd gen and a 3rd gen model. When it's properly plugged in, it will light up. You may have a defective one or it's loose. It sort snaps in pretty tightly, at least on the E-350, it'd be a struggle for me to even disconnect it. Once the button is pressed, the code is MBUSA to pair your bluetooth.
