I recently got this black on black 2007 e350 and i was curious to see if anyone thought blacking out any of the chrome would be a good idea and look good, just to make it my own.

The trend is pretty common between Russians in San Francisco.
I have seen probably more than 20 blacked out MB, but liked only 1.
The other 19 look plain stupid, so make sure you know what you are doing.
Good luck on your project

I put a black grill on mine. Still can't decide if I like it enough to leave it on. The yellow Lamin-X is also no longer on the fog lights.

Do not do that, because we need your chrome to Be seen at night, especially for a black car.

Even I like white cars for practical reason (wont't cook you instantly in 120F weather) - I ended with couple of black ones.
Why?
Becouse prices of white W211 and W212 go over the roof.

It's easy, you just resist. I just instantly reject any black cars and cars with black interiors. It's an awful color. Ever see anyone paint a room black?

There is fine balance to all colors. I had lot of chromed wheels on black MB and they look great.
Even the silver wagon become head turner with chromed monoblocks.
Bottom line - I sold wagon with original wheels, even that cost me new tires just before the sale and keep classic Lorinsers.

After having a black ML, I realized that the primary issue with black cars is that where I live, they show every particle of pollen, which pretty much translates to a thick film the day after the car is washed. It was a nightmare, and I couldn't find any advertisements for live-in au pairs who did nothing but wash the car every day.

This is the secret brilliance of Cubanite Silver, a.k.a Pewter in the U.S., there's just enough yellow in that pigment to make pollen invisible.

I instantly reject any vehicles that don't have black interiors. W211 interiors look terrible and cheap in any other color IMO. Black just looks better as far as I'm concerned. Any color except for black was a deal breaker when I was shopping for mine. Yes, I have known people with black rooms. I'd do it, but it's too hard to paint over.

I did have an F150 with the tan interior. I hated it since it got dirty so easily. I was always having to clean the steering wheel and other places that were touched often. I'm not a dirty person either.

It was way too much work to keep it looking like this on a daily driver.

I am opposite. When I can deal with black exterior, I have sweat spot for tan or stone interiors.
Sold 16 years old car with tan leatherette and it still show great.
The black leather after 5 years usually looks poor and fact that we are having white dogs is not helping.

Funny enough, i love cream/beige interiors with oak wood trim. It brings out the luxury finish in them. I once had a Hyundai XG30. Lovely interior. When its clean u d never wat there to b a stain on it
