Unhappy E500 Shock problems..

Can someone tell me if there is a TSB or some kind of bulletin relating to the shocks in the E500 sport? Specifically the rear.. Mine are going in to be replaced for the 2nd time in 6 months..

Thanks..

Did the S-Class have problems with it's air suspension? Maybe it was a higher quality system.

Hi,

The S and E have different airmatic. The S uses one unit airmatic with build in shock. The E is different. The E has airmatic to hold the car's lever, but use a adjustable air-shock. It is a 2 unit airmatic. The air-shock often leaks.

I hope you have purchase the extend warranty. For what I know, these air-shock probably need to replace pretty often. Maybe 30k to 50K......

One good news is that the air-shock is lot cheaper than S airmatic, which is aboout 1k for parts.

After dealing with blown rear shocks for two seasons, I have decided to a little research of my own. I discovered alignment has a huge impact on how the rear end tracks. If your toe or camber is off; the car will "bounce" like it has a blown shock.

I took the car to the alignment shop and insisted that the tech aligned the car to the exact specifications on all four wheels. Wow...what a difference, the car stoped bouncing.

I can't guarantee this will fix your issue, but it did help mine.

Good luck
