MP3 problems
Hi
Anyone help? My comand plays mp3 from DVD. The manual says you can have up to 255 folders. I cannot get the unit to see more than 25 folders, so only 25 albums. Anything over 25 ish cannot be seen.
Is this the limit and the manual is wrong, do I have a fault or need a software upgrade. The car has been built about 5 weeks.

Not many here got the DVD MP3. Here is a computer translation from a Spanish board:
Recommendation on the organization of CD and DVD MP3.
In the DVD that véis in the photos has recorded almost 1,200 songs, of so large means superior to 5 minutes each one and 128 quality of or superior.
Of the 1,200 songs, more than 900 they are in the folder root and the rest in several folders, a folder by volume or LP. Is an error to organize it thus, although the certain thing is that I recorded them to prove and worked correctly, but sometimes it costs to him to begin the reproduction (between 30 seconds and 1 minute) due to the amount of files that it has to read.
He is advisable to organize plus the information with several levels of folders, for example, a folder for Rock, Pop, Jazz, Classic, etc. Within each folder you can put to create a folder for each LP. This organization will be simpler to read by the equipment and the random reproduction can be made by all the folders without problems. He is not advisable to create an exaggerated number of folders (one for each song, for example) then so bad is that many files in a folder like many folders exist (that are files in the end).
A CD they can enter between 100 and 200 songs based on the duration and quality of recording, songs between 3 and 4 minutes to 128 can enter more than 150.
Nor that to say that with CD and DVD MP3 the CD shipper loses enough sense although logically with the shipper which you obtain is the best quality of sound. But a DVD with songs in format MP3 of superior quality 192 or (practically quality CD, the human ear would not have to notice differences) allows to record surely more than 200 or 300 songs.
Greetings.

Thanks a lot Oslo for the reply. A little difficult to understand but I am assuming that it is recommending using sub folders. I will try again using sub folders with around 20 albums in each and see if that works. Up to now it only seems to be able to see one level of folders. You cannot seem to navigate to different levels. I will report back findings.
Hi
Just tried DVD with 3 folders - Disc 1, Disc 2, Disc 3. Within each folder contained 25 subfolders each with an albums mp3's.
The unit just jumped to the folders containing the mp3's. But again it listed 30 subfolders. 25 from Disc 1 and 5 from Disc 2. I cannot navigate to any other folders within the DVD apart from those 30. This is really baffling me. Any experts out there?

Hi
I have just called the MB support line. They have promised an answer by this afternoon. I asked to talk to a comand expert, they said that would not be possible to talk to someone direct. It's a shame as that would have been easier. I will call back this afternoon for an answer

Hi
Just an update:
MB do not have an answer for me yet on this mp3 problem. They have had to refer it to Stuttgart for an answer. It is now 2 days. They are going to phone me when the technicians have replied.

Well I don't give up easily.
I have been waiting for almost 2 weeks for the Director of After Sales in the UK to reply to my letter as to why the car needed 2 new rear shock absorbers when just a week old. He has not even acknowledged my letter.
Touch wood, no other problems since.

Hi
Well it is now Saturday and still no response from MB on the MP3 issue. What customer service. Do they not realise that effective communication often diffuses the impact of issues. Again I will have to phone them for the 4th time.
The director of aftersales has not even acknowledged my letter sent over 2 weeks ago. This was asking why my rear shocks had to be replaced after 1 week of picking up the car.
So so far:
Car picked up on April 8th, issues:
- 2 new shocks on rear.
- Comand cut out once (hopefully isolated incident)
- Mp3's do not work on the Comand as the manual states.
Did you know that the comand system plays DVD-RW & DVD+RW, so you can update your MP3 collection easily. Shame that I can only use about a quarter of the disc for MP3's.
