Question E-class problems? and pricing question

I just came from Audi - had a 2004 with so many problems, I had a buy back about 2 weeks ago. Problem after problem! Buy back due to turbo problems.

Anyways, looking at the E320s. Any problems to watch for? I don't want another problematic car. Merc kind of scares me b/c of the JD power ratings.

How much below sticker should I be able to buy for? What are interest rates?

Any info would be helpful. TIA!

It has to be either a 1.8T A4 or 2.7T A6. The twin turbos in my S4 had me worried as well.

Good luck in your E320 search. Remember the premise of these forums - they are a place to find some good info but they represent only about 10-15% of total owners. (1 year old data but likely still accurate) There are lots of us that had only very minor, typical warranty issues or no problems at all.

Picked up my 2004 E320 back in January and now i have 3000 miles. I haven't accumulated as many miles as other members who are experiencing problems, but I haven't had any issues with my car. If given the chance, I'd do it again.

I had an 03 E-500 that had lots of problems. During the 12 months that I owned it time in the shop was almost 8 weeks. Got an 04 replacement in December and it has been perfect. Not one trip back to the dealer. 5,000 miles so far....

had the 2.7T A6 - I just want another car with alot of problems.

Buyback was easy. For those who had MB do a buyback, did they take care of them easily?

Any good sites related to MB ?

I have a late 2003 E320 that I got late September. It now has 9000 miles and has been trouble free. That is, except for the heated steering wheel turning off when it is cold outside! Not been cold lately so I do not know if it is fixed or not. Maybe some people would take that more seriously than I do but for me it is just a chuckle.

In all, a great car. My wife and I love it.

I don't remember what they were but I believe there have been at least two more TSB's released since the first of the year. I think one is another update to the Audio system.

I initiated a buy back with MB for my 2001 C320 in October 2003. I was just recently paid the settlement last week. They are a big pain and drag their feet throughout the whole process.

Our E had the infamous pull to the right which was corrected and now the front height adjustment on the drivers seat is not working. Going on 2 months and 3500 miles.

A lot of folks had an issue with a part called the Audio Gateway - either no radio or static through the radio. Most of those seemed to be corrected with a parts replacement or software update.

There were some "pulling to the right" issues on earlier models. I had the audio gateway and a problem with the rain sensing wipers which ultimately turned out to be a pinched wire in the steering column. All of that happened in the first 7K miles - 21,200 miles today and just scheduled maintenance since 7,000 miles. And I do not "baby" the car. Good luck with your choice!

Didn't want that new S4, huh? Pretty sweet sounding engine!

I suppose that owners of the E-class that have problems will quite rightly make 'the most noise' by that I politely mean it would appear the majority of owners are driving their 211 with a .

I looked at both Audi and BMW before replacing our 210 and I am highly delighted with the vehicle.

I cannot comment on after sales care because I reside in England, but I am delighted in the way all my little 'teething problems' are being dealt with.

Good luck with your choice,
John
