Weird aircon.

Hi everyone,
I noticed today, when out with friends in my E320 CDi, that the aircon was blowing remarkedly different air temps out different vents.
I have the 4 zone thermatic? setup, the one with the digital adjustment in the dash and also at the rear of the centre console, for the rear passengers.
The outside temperature was 26 degrees Celsius, and the car temp was set at 19 in all 4 regions.
All were blowing cold intially, then after about 5 mins travel, all of a sudden the temp coming out of the rear section vents and the two B pillar vents got quite hot. But, the air from the front of the car was cold.
Has anyone else had his happen to them before, and can shed som light as to what the issue might be?
I replaced the thermostat housing a couple of days ago, and the car now runs just under the 100degrees mark. Whereas previously it would barely get to the 60 degrees mark on the dash gauge.
Cheers,
Graeme
