High mileage long trip
Hi!
I recently bought a 2004 MB e320. So far it's perfect and I'm living the dream since it's my first MB! I always wanted to go on a roadtrip and would really enjoy doing so with my e320 the only thing that stresses me out is that it has 190k kms to the counter... I was wondering if it was too risky to do 3500 to 4000 km in a week or two with it considering its age and mileage.
Thanks!
Marc

That's only 118,000 miles, which is nothing for a Mercedes. If the car is in good working order I wouldn't worry about doing that at all.

Just make sure tires look good. Sometimes there can be a nail in your tire for weeks and you won't even notice it. Also, If she has oil, has a nice idle, shifts smooth, doesn't have any major vibration at highway speed, and no check engine light-- it would seem you are good to go! Have fun and don't get any speeding tickets!

Don't forget to make sure the spare "doughnut" tire has proper inflation as well and that the lug wrench and lift jack are intact while your checking it. I always take a spare quart of oil, jumper cables, a few hand tools, flashlight and first aid kit along. I was pleased to find out that we still had the MB first aid kit in the storage pocket on the passenger seat front storage compartment. Top off the windscreen washer fluid level and engine coolant. While you're under the hood check the transmission fluid level after its is warmed up. You do know how to read the motor oil level from the dash display right?
Since your not in the USA, you may not have an AAA membership equivalent available. We upped to the "Plus" yearly AAA membership that gets us 200 mile included towing (if needed) as all of our cars & trucks are over 7+ years now.
Most importantly, enjoy that MB quality ride as it is like no other on the open road.
