Still Having issues clearing P0410 code 2004 E320

Okay, gang and DIYers, I'm having a continuing issue with clearing my P0410 code off my 2004 E320. So far, I've installed a new secondary air pump, replaced the 2 check valves, replaced the solenoid, replaced the relay, inspected and replaced cracked tubing, yet I still keep getting the CEL every 100 miles. I would really appreciated some guidance and assistance in what my next steps should be. It was recommended that I change the EGR valve, which I will do this weekend, but this has really got me stumped. Otherwise, at 153k miles, the car is in great shape. On another issue, can someone tell me how difficult it would be to change the lower ball joints on my car. I'm starting to get a rattle each time I go over bumps. Thanks, in advance, for your support and assistance.

Baumnutde, Have U found your 410 culprit?
I have 2004 E320 with 0410 code.
If U go into activations or any screen on a scanner that shows both front o2 sensors
they should drop below 40mv smartly with air pump on
I replaced the r/f o2 about 3 years ago. Now it's not dropping below 80mv
I suspect the internal air injection passage in head is plugged
Will try a cleaner soak before head removal. Dont like the idea of blowing the carbon into the cylinders
buuuuut what r u gonna do. Maybe I will pull plugs first in hopes of blowing it out.
By the way she has 183K

P0410 issue with a twrist

Okay, I replaced some cracked hoses, check valves, solenoid, cleaned up the EGR valve, but still have the 0410 CEL, the interesting part is it only showed up about 190 - 214 miles of driving. I read somewhere that the front oxygen sensors might be the problem, but I don't want to just change the o2 sensors and the problem persists. If anyone has any insight, I would really appreciate your input, this is driving me nuts....Duke

I have the same code. So far I've only replaced the relay but I still have the code.

I'm wondering if you hear the secondary air injector pump startup now that you've replaced all the relays, etc. Since I think I still don't hear mine, might have to change the pump. By the way, have you checked the fuse for the air pump? I haven't checked mine yet, I'm wondering where it is located.

Oh also, lower ball joint isn't too bad, just make sure you support the wheel hub once you pop the joints. You need the ball joint removing and setting tool. I just got a standard one from Princess Auto and it works fine.

Regarding your issue about the relays, when I changed the 40 amp fuse, I also changed the relay. I can hear the secondary air pump operate, when I first start the car in the mornings, so I know I've cleared some of the areas of concern. The interesting development is I cleared the code using my OBDII diagnostic tool and I went 266 miles before the check engine light returned. I'm now down to (1) replacing EGR valve or replacing bank 1 sensor or bank 2 sensor (oxygen sensors) in the car. I'm hoping that will finally resolve the issue.

Where is the fuse for the secondary injector pump? I can't seem to find it on any diagram.

Did you end up replacing anymore parts?

Follow up to P0171, P0174, P0400 codes

Yeah, in answer to your question, I did end up replacing more parts, which included intake manifolds, EGR valve, secondary air pump, new MAF, fuel injector removal and cleaning, removed and cleaned out EGR tube, replaced front 02 sensors. So, even with all that done, I'm now still getting the CEL codes and now hearing a hissing sound from the area of the EGR valve. So, I'm going to remove the EGR and recheck all the vacuum hoses of cracks or splits. This is really staring to get under my skin regarding my 2004 Mercedes E320. I don't know what else to replace. So, it appears I might have to take it to the Indy. Duke
