2004 E500 transmission failure 7-speed
The 7 speed may be a little jerky at very slow (parking lot) speeds. The reason it isnt as smooth as you failed one was at shifting is probably because your old one wasnt shifting, or skipping over a gear. Its a good tranny that could use a programming update down the road for low speed shifting. Don't forget, 1st is a VERY low gear. If you want to eliminate it change your setting from "S" to "C".
Now go and enjoy the car!
Then the radio beeped and turned itself OFF (numerous times).
I give up!!!!!!! I traded my 2004 E500 (5 months old) in yesterday for a non MB product.
I hope everyone on this board have much better luck than the frustrating experience that I had with my Mercedes. It's too bad, I really loved my 2004 E500 sport.
To summarize:
1) The dealer/MBUSA compensated me $800 for my transmission troubles (19 days).
2) They also compensated me $$$ for the active headlights (April).
Althought I wished I could have a new E500, I though MBUSA handled the situation fairly. The trade-in that I received and the tax saving towards a new car made my out-of-pocket expense of owning the E500 for 5 months very minimally. I really can't complaint too much.
Good luck everyone, and thanks for the comments and recommendations.
keep you posted,
