Expensive wipers
Those better be some damn nice wipers for that price. I personally think they might be taking mom for a ride. She told them to just do it, but I think she could've gone elsewhere for cheaper.
With the wiper in your hand, you will see that there are plastic endcaps on each end. If you tug on the ends of the rubber insert by sliding the end out toward the end and back towards the center, you will notice that one end feels free, and the other end feels pretty fixed. I then used a needle nose plier, sliding it under the end cap on the end where the rubber insert is FIXED, and then used a decent amount of force to push the end cap off. There is a little metal tab which you can pry up, and then the wiper insert slides out.
I am using some wiper inserts I found at Walmart called Lexor (A type) because they will slide in and are long enough. The wipers are I think like 25 1/2 inches long. I then slide the wiper insert in, cut to desired length, bend metal tab back down, and then pop the plastic end cap back on. I don't have a digital camera, but if you look at the VW or Audi forums on the web, you might find photos.
The inserts I bought at Wal-Mart cost me I think $5 for the 2 inserts. For the MB wipers I got quoted a price of $45 each!
Yes, the dealer replaced my wipers for free once, but that is all they promised they would do for me, so I started looking for alternatives. So I would first get the dealer to replace the wipers if possible.
I hope eventually there will be some type of adaptation so that we can use regular wipers. I miss using the Bosch Micro Edge Excel which I like the best; much better than the regular Bosch Micro Edge.
I am not impressed with these new wipers; I think that they are way to extract more money out of us.

One hundred bucks for some wipers?
Granted - they are big and floppy, but still...On a positive note - my first set of wipers were *extremely* noisy. The dealer replaced them gratis.
