OK lots of work done in the last 2 days!
Got the repaired conductor plate back. Installed it in the valve body and put the valve body back in. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/1...924/U8EuNe.jpg The pan didn't have any magnets which I thought was weird so I got 2 new ones. New Gasket and ready to be installed. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/1...922/ridfse.jpg Hooked up my Fluid pump and put in 6 quarts of Shell ATF 134. When I drained I measured it at around 6.5 quarts, so I knew I needed another half a quart or so. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/1...922/HOCota.jpg In order to finish the transmission, I need to finish the engine lol :) Started working on the valve covers, man those things took like 4 hours to scrub, magnesium sucks! Ready for install. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/1...924/hO36mT.jpg Loctite RTV for the breathers. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/1...923/Qbaink.jpg Got a bunch of other parts as well. New Coolant tank and line, Maf rubber couplers, new coil pack plugs. New Breather hoses. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/1...922/oIkWst.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/1...923/0zDPpu.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/1...922/aub3jU.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/1...924/O6Av3g.jpg Valve Covers all done. new breather hoses installed. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/1...923/sMP2oi.jpg New Coolant Tank and line installed. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/1...923/gZ3dVI.jpg Last thing was to fix the cracked coil pack connectors. What a pain in the ass to depin the plugs. They are wedged there pretty good. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/1...n.jpg[/img |
https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/1...923/frDwen.jpg
All plugs done! https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/1...923/TVx6CT.jpg Filled the rest of the fluid in the transmission and took it for a spin! Cleared the old transmission code and tested all the gears. Runs awesome, shifts like butter. Now just need to detail it :) |

Look at you GO!
You mentioned about getting the conductor plate rebuilt. Was it that much cheaper than getting a new one and if so where did you send it? |

Got the interior cleaned up a bit. Steering wheel was pretty dirty, seats came out great.
Installed a new cup holder as well :) Few things it still needs: New floor mats, old ones were some no name cheap ones. New ball joints, they squeak pretty bad and one is torn. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/1...924/9pYvQC.jpg |

Worked like a charm for me and has been good ever since. Just watch the heat, so you will not burn the leather. |
Worked on the ball joints. Ordered 2 from Amazon and only 1 came.... So pissed. Now I need to wait for another. I got one side done.
Pain to do it when you don't remove the other control arm. All removed. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/1...922/445OVS.jpg Old vs New https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/1...923/EA9kKN.jpg New one pressed in. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/1...923/99AF80.jpg |
What do you use to press them in and out?

Thank you! Ordered!

Put a 1000 miles on it. Runs great! 20mpg in mixed driving, beats 15 I get in the hellcat. Couple minor things to fix still. The idler pulley is squeaking and the center speaker is blown.
One not so minor thing I will have to deal with eventually is a slow rear main seal leak. Also planning to install a new head unit, tired of using adapters to stream music from my phone. Probably will pick up a Android Unit with the optical adapter to retain the Harman Kardon Amplifier. |

CarPro Bluetooth receiver by CoolStream plays music flawlessly from iPhone 5 in 2008 W211. |
|
Do you have the ipod cable? I prefer that over bluetooth. My bluetooth in the my W212 skips sometimes, it's pretty good using the ipod cable. I just use an old iPod Touch and run spotify on it so all I have to do sync it up once in a while via wifi so I can use it offline while I'm in the car. Then I just stick it in the glove box.

This one.
It works fine, just too many wires. The CarPro plugs into a iPod cable in the glove-box and has no wires or buttons. The playback is controlled from the iPhone and to a lesser degree also from the steering wheel buttons. |
I don't have an ipod adapter or factory bluetooth. Only Aux input in the glove box. No power in the glove box and I need the microphone from the adapter for calls, so I can't hide it.
|
I believe the factory bluetooth was only for phone calls anyway, no music til W212. Not sure if you can just add the ipod cable. That's what happened after the facelift. Not sure about pre-facelift. The ipod cable provided the power.
|
It's not even worth it. I'll just replace the head unit.
