I'm looking to replace my C32 AMG which I absolutely love with something more practical for the Canadian winter such as a W211 4MATIC. Reliability is very important to me, I don't mind minor repairs and replacing wear items but I don't want to deal with major issues such SBC or Balance Shaft. This is the reason why I chose to only look at 2007-2009 model which from my research seems to be very reliable. I have looked at the reliability index from Warranty Direct in the UK and apparently the 2007-2009 models are above average and on a par with Lexus GS for example. The one I'm looking at is a 2007 with 50K miles and selling for $7.5K USD. The car's VIN is WDBUF87X27X223433 and the engine serial # is 272972 30 546243 which isn't part of the affected ones (>2729 30 468993). Can anyone confirm? This model has also the P2 Sport Package if I'm not mistaken as the VIN decoder is showing:
The other thing is the car is sold by a dealer and there is no service records though the CarProof (see below) report is showing a second owner record on 2011 with the odometer reading at 20K miles. This is probably a CPO car and was under warranty till recently. I'm also seeing three service records at the dealership in 2015. I'm assuming here that the previous owner took care but I'll of course complete my investigation with a PPI.
Have I done my homework here? Do I need to look at anything else?
You don't have P2 because you just have the bixenons, but you don't have keyless go. It's not too bad, you have real leather instead of mb-tex which is rare. No pano roof, but you have parktronic and the folding rear seat plus the wood steering wheel, but no power trunk closer.
Not sure what they did in Canada but check for the bluetooth puck/connector in the center console. And see if you have the ipod cable in the glove box.
