Trunk closer has gradually stopped working
I have the powered trunk closing button on my 07 E320 Bluetec. Over the years it's become sporadic at best. The symptoms are that you'd press the button, it'd go down halfway and then come back up. I solved this by gradually adding wheel weights behind the license plate. Now that the car is 11 years old and we've had an extreme cold stretch, it goes barely 6-12 inches before reversing course.
The interesting thing is that when this happens, you hear the mechanism pull (what I assume) the springs tight and the trunk starts closing. It then will go anywhere between 1/4th down and 3/4ths down before reversing course. If you press the button again, sometimes it goes all the way down silently.
I know the common problems are the wiring harness cutting power to everything in the trunk after getting worn, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.

I should add that when I press the button to close it now, I have to then manually push it down after it begins, and it's like I'm fighting someone trying to pull it back up. Trying to close the trunk without pushing the button is even more difficult.

Not sure if yours is just wearing out or if the sensor or bad or if it just needs to be normalized. Mine did do that at one point after replacing the battery. But after opening closing all windows/sunroof and holding the button down a few seconds afterwards, the trunk closer went back to normal. Also opened and closed it using the button in the drivers door and holding it down for a few seconds after it's closed. Otherwise I suppose it's something else. Also if you walk away with the fob before it's fully closed, sometimes it will just go back up.
