Hey guys is this car stolen
https://losangeles.craigslist.org/ws...435085035.html
idk if this is the right forum for this.
the car looks to be 2003-2006 model with low miles and priced accordingly in my opinion. I have an 05 E500 w/ 126,000 miles
that cant be worth more than $5 thous.
I assume there are ways to verify that you arent purchasing a stolen vehicle probably with the dmv. I think i saw something
on the nhtsa website regarding rolling back the odometer but nothing really strikes me as stolen. Perhaps he is a member of
this forum, certainly looks like a benz enthusiast. I would be more worried about getting information about the condition of the
airmatic suspension specifically if the airbags have been serviced recently. Also if the SBC pump was replaced during the extended
warranty. Both of those things can and will really make or break a deal on this specific model Mercedes.
Best of luck to you
The SBC and fuel issue can be repaired free of charge at the dealer if it was taken during the warranty period.. Im sure SBC if it wasnt remedied is
out of warranty by now but the fuel pump and fuel tank are likely still under warranty. If its an 03 model time is running out on the 15 year extended warranty.

Several questions and comments for you!!
1. First of all, did you run the carfax to make sure that the title is clean and the car is not stolen? Most would say that is absolutely essential for buying any used car.
2. It is extremely easy for a car to be stolen and sold without virtually any consequences to the person who stole the car. I know this because I was once conned and had my car stolen. It evolved into a civil issue and authorities could do nothing. Long story. So if you really suspect it is stolen, steer clear.
3. Empirically the price point seems about accurate for the vehicle, albeit on the low end. If you search various websites, you'll see that the listed price for a e55 of this vintage from a private party is in the ballpark.
4. Others have noted the SBC failure on our cars. My car has 67K miles, and although these typically fail over 100K miles, I find this very scary and probably would have not bought my car if I had known about this. Many SBC systems never fail at all though, but when they do they are expensive and not even really possible if you are a DIYer because of the XENTRY calibration requirements to program.
5. The air struts almost always fail on these cars. My front struts failed at only 64K miles. It is an expensive repair, even DIY, but it is relatively easy if you work on your own car. About $1200 if you do the front struts yourself. If you do there at the dealer, expect to pay upwards of $5000.
6. If you go look at the car, make sure to hook up an OBDII reader (preferably an MB icarsoft II device) to check for engine codes. If you find no codes, that is outstanding! If you do, cross reference the codes on the internet. The code may be serious or it may be nothing.
7. Overall, I'd say this is a good opportunity with an appropriate amount of due diligence. If it were me, and I was looking for a car, I would definitely test drive. If are NOT a DIYer and do NOT know anything about the w211 chassis, I'd not recommend.
8. Please feel free to private message if you have questions!
