Removing Sticky Goo From Light Switch
I recently decided to tackle the nasty gooey sticky substance that cover the light switch, and it worked. I used 50% concentration rubbing alcohol and rubbed it hard with a terry towel. It was coming off, but goo was going from one area to another. That inspired me to use the 91% concentration rubbing alcohol, and that did it. Goo started to peel off, but I noticed some of the lettering in white, as could be seen in pics, was also coming off, so I stopped right away. Perhaps mixing the 50% and the 91% concentrations won't be as harsh. I've tried a lot of things, but that seems to be the only viable method to work thus far.

Goo Gone works great for that type of stuff. Just have to be gentle and take your time. I did it on the steering wheel buttons on my wagon since they were sticky. I first tried rubbing alcohol and it took some paint off.

+1 for Goo Gone. It's not fast, and it takes several applications, but it does work, and that stuff does peel on up. I have done this cleaning on both my 2007 and my wife's 2006 E350, and it looks so much better.
