Question about Model year and 80x option code
Long story short: my dads w202 got totaled and he decided to buy an w211. After me reading a lot we decided it had to be a 2004+ year with the mesh center air vent ( http://puu.sh/zvqWj.jpg ),because of the change in the electrical wiring, and fair enough we found a mint E220 CDI with it and going to buy it in a few days. However...
The VIN says it was made in 2001 (10th vin number), but there is a 805 option code (the best description I could find for 80x was "change of modelyear last figure shows new modelyear"), and the dataMB decoder says "Release date" is 2004.
So does that mean that it will be a 2004, which I read is the year they changed to hand-put wiring and fixed a lot of the electrical problems? or am I completely wrong?

Normally in the US, the 10th digit is the year. Are you sure that's the right VIN number? I think when you put it into EPC-net, it butchers the VIN number so you get the 211 instead of the real digits. But yeah, datamb says it's a 2004. Not a lot of options listed.

Data card shows delivery 8/9/04, code 805 (2005 electronics) I attached a 05 e220cdi data card to compare it lists 806 so in your market 0014 would be considered 2004. Not to confuse the matter but MBUSA next model year delivery begins in June unless it is an early launch series, 805 = 2005 vehicle.
