2006 E350 Wagon tailgate collecting and leaking water
2006 e350 wagon. Opened the tailgate today and water started pouring down from the passenger side corner, from where the carpet on the inside of the tailgate meets the plastic at the bottom.
This never happened before and I’m wondering what’s the cause and if it’s possibly related to having work done to diagnose repair and replace the rear windshield washer pump.
Thanks in advance.

Did you ever find out what was causing the leak? I'm having exactly the same problem on my '11. It got left outside for a few days at the end of the driveway due to some snowfall and after opening the tailgate water came streaming out.
I'm planning on pulling the panels off soon (thanks konigstiger), but wanted to see if there was anything I should specifically look for or be ready to deal with.

I never found a good answer. I replaced the seals on the taillights and rear washer nozzle, and sealed up all of the holes on the spoiler better than they were before but still no joy. I ended up just pulling the plugs out of the bottom of the tailgate so the water would at least not be trapped. I garage park my car 90% of the time anyway so I'm not terribly concerned. The only other seals I saw that might be culprits were the seals around the rear wiper and on the emblem posts. I didn't do those because the emblem seemed highly unlikely, and the wiper arm apparently can't be removed without breaking it due to the corrosion that builds up between the it and the motor shaft.
I should get around to ordering a new arm and do the wiper...

Tucked in between hatch are two drains that are more than likely clogged. Compressed can of air will help, but if memory serves me right I used pipes sticks (used for cleaning Tobacco pipes). Hope this helps.
