So I recently got my car scanned and for the third time now this P0456 code has popped up. The dealer said it was a purge control valve and/or a charcoal canister that needs to be replaced. Now they wanted something like $750.... is this a fix that I could do personally or is it something I need to have done? If I can do it, can someone help me with the parts that I'll need and where I can get them?
Could be as simple as the rubber hose connected to the purge valve needs to be trimmed or have a better hose clamp placed on it. That was the issue on mine. You'll find the valve directly behind the driver's side headlight. One line runs under the fender, the other line runs to the engine. If you decide to replace the purge valve, it's easy; 20-30 minutes tops.
Alternatively, it could be the fuel cap. Start with the above and then dig deeper but be aware the lines under the passenger-side rear fender liner are difficult to get to due to the tight space. You may just want to invest in a proper scanner that reads MB codes and clear the code yourself.
P2075 P0456 Purge control system has a slight leak (minor leak): Leak in shutoff valve of activated charcoal canister. Canister should be located behind right rear wheel.

Codes are "cleared" by fixing the problem ... NOT by simply canceling them with a scanner, as they'll return if the problem isn't fixed. Some codes will self clear after the problem is fixed, no scanner action required.
