Replace Option 615 Headlights with cheaper ones
I'm driving a 2005 E320 base Sedan with the option 615 Bi-Xenon active curve headlights. The lenses are as frosty as anything and I'd like to replace the headlight assembly on both sides. I am staying with Xenon, not moving to halogen or LED.
If I replace them with non-active curve headlight assemblies, am I going to get an active error in my display? Is it going to be a quiet, under the covers error that only shows up if I look for it? What bad things will happen? I want the lights to be good, but $1200-1400 just for the correct curvelight headlight assemblies is a real stretch.
Anyone have some useful assistance?

Just have the covers replaced. They're about $50. There's lots of threads on here about how people did it. It's a project though, you have to take the headlights off and bake them to get the old covers off and then seal the new ones back in.

If that's too much you can always have them sanded and sealed, but that doesn't always last very long.

I did my bi-xenons lenses like a year ago. I bought lenses from a Chinese seller, but there are some on fleabay as well. There are several youtubes on how to remove bumper, a must to remove headlight assemblies. I did not bake my headlight inside an oven, I simply used a heat gun to melt away old glue holding lens to black plastic frame. The whole thing took like 5 hours. It's very much doable, but you'll need an extra set of hands. Check out my before and after pictures. I also have a pic with bumper off.
