European Delivery Question--Taxes and Fees
Are there any taxes and fees on a European Delivery car that are not on a US delivery car? Someone just told me there is a 2.8% duty tax. It is the first that I have heard of it. Is that correct?

You have to pay any State sales tax and license fees but no other taxes and fees except for the gas guzzler tax on the E500 and any fees that are unique to the dealership (like a fee for handling paperwork).
You get a 7% discount on the base MSRP and you don't have to pay the normal $720 U.S. shipping fee that you'd have to pay if you bought out of a dealer's inventory or ordered a car for U.S. delivery.
Go to MBUSA and configure a car for Euro Delivery to see what it would cost. You might also get even more off the U.S. MSRP if you have a heart to heart talk with your salesman.

Prices seem to be about $1000-1500 above US invoice on a US delivery and $700-1200 below ED MSRP on European Delivery. Just a dealer said there was an extra duty fee.
