I Can't Fill Up My Tank!!

Hi Everyone,
I'm not someone who tries to fill my car up to the brim so I usually put the nozzle back and continue on my way after it clicks. However, once I get into my car, I notice that it is never completely full. The first time it was maybe two notches from the top, but this time it was just over three-quarters of a tank. is there some kind of a charcol filter I have to replace? I assume the problem will get worse. Thanks in advance for any insight!

How many gallons are you putting in it?

I think I put in a little over 12 gallons. I wasn't completely bone dry so I would assume I still had about two gallons. That still leaves a three-gallon delta. These cars have a 17-gallon tank?

Noticed this issue lately at some stations in CA as well... make sure you mate the nozzle fully upright to your filler tube - in other words, with some of these newer pumps and nozzles, if you let the nozzle hang slightly (as most people do when they have the handle clicker in place so you don't have to hold the handle), it may not seal properly and click off - I've had to manually hold the nozzle upright in place in order for tank to fully fill - it's a pain - but apparently CA deems any fuel fumes escaping as deadly ;-)

You may be on to something. My company pays for all of my gas but the owner wants us all to use Arco when possible because it's cheaper. The last few times I have filled up has been at an Arco station so maybe it's just their pumps. I have used Shell and Costco gas previously and had no issues. I think I'll go to another station and see what happens. Thank you!
