Hi,
If you have 04 E class but did not have Navi, now you can upgrade the Navi unit. It can be dealer install now!!! YES THE DVD COMMAND. only avaliable to 04 E class. The 03 is out of luck.
If your car did not come with DVD Command, now you can add the DVD ommand to your E Class.

Also, a few posts that 2003 owners can do retrofits, just not at all dealerships... so they're not "out of luck".

BTW, if any 2003 owner would like to upgrade to navi. A new command unit is needed.

They are 03 E Class are prewired for NAVI, but only few. The problem is that you also need to replace the command unit to the new screen which is "way" too much money. The good new is that your command unit still under warranty if installed in dealership, but I guess you just void your command warranty now because it wasn't install in dealership, simple!!
They are tons of things you can do if you have the money. And not all the 03E calss can upgrade NAVI unless the car in pre-wired. They are only a very few 03 E class are prewired. Retrofit is a good idea, but it will void your warranty if done outside of dealership.

I even ran into a chassis number in the 20,000 area that is prewired (there were over 400,000 cars produced for 2003).
It will not void your warranty, you just won't have a warranty on the new COMAND except from where it was purchased. I would suggest going to a different dealership if one started taking about voiding warranties, especially in light of the federal laws that prohibit voiding warranties for making modifications. Those dealerships could get in a lot of trouble.

p.s. it is the burden of the warranty provider to PROVE that the modification caused a problem.
