Need some Advice - Transmission E350 2006
E350 Gas base early 2006
I've had a K2 soleniod shift problem that had sent my car into limp mode, super hard clunky shifts between P, R & D. only had S mode and no C. Error code came up P2734 K2 Shift Solenoid.
I bought new solenoids, dropped the pan, removed the valve body very very carefully. changed the filter, cleaned up the valve body as best as I could, man, it was messy.
With the solenoids replaced, filled up with transmission fluid... Sidenote: There is a special place in hell, reserved for the designer who deleted the dipstick from this transmission...
How on earth do you know if there is too much or not enough fluid in the box?!
Despite everything I could not find a TC plug and believe me, I spun that thing about 12 times. Filling up with about 8 litres of transmission oil and some spurted out of the top of the transmission!.
Hopefully that's some kind of overflow. I ran it to 45 degrees, took out the plug and waited for it to spurt and closed off the plug. I put everything back together and to my dismay, the errors were still there. Drove around the block dismayed and stopped for 5 mins and somehow, I didn't have that error code and I wasn't in Limp mode anymore.
My question is this:
it's now flaring between gears like 500 rpm and there is a delay between shifts. Putting the car in R of D is now smooth but there is a delay.
There are no error codes in the system. have I let out too much trans fluid?
I did it till it was spurting.
To me, it sound like its a trans fluid level problem? but if anyone else has experienced this? how did you fix it?
it would be really helpful to hear from you. Any good independent mercedes specialists in LA, please let me know!
Cheers!

You can't use a dipstick, ignore post #2.
I agree, your best bet is to confirm fluid level. These trans's are sensitive to level. Car has to be level, at 45C (warm up to 45C), loosen drain plug and if you get nothing - you're low. Add a 1/2 liter and check again. Car MUST be running, level and in park when you do this. Fluid expands as it warms up - better to error on the side of caution <45C (a bit more) than >45C (a bit less).
