It seems that my oil sensor has quit, resulting in random "check oil level" while the oil level is correct. I was thinking no big deal remove lower oil pan, replace $20 sensor. But after reviewing WIS the instructions send you to remove the upper oil pan, which is quite a bit of trouble.
From pictures (one attached) it seems like the sensor would be accessible with the lower (rear) oil pan removed as there would only be 2 pipes in that area.
Has anyone replaced an oil level sensor on a w211/219 M156 that can confirm/deny or have any input/advice?
Don't think you would be able to sneak it out by just removing lower black cover. Pickup tubes are in the way i think.... Worst case remove the black cover and see if you can access the bolts to remove the sensor.
