missing caliper covers??

Forgive me if I'm not describing the right part but I noticed over the weekend while washing my car that my rear caliper's (the part that sandwiches the disk brake) don't have the mercedes benz cover that my front ones do. It looks as if they were meant to be there since there seems to be an indentation where they would go. This had me thinking that maybe they were stolen but would seem hard to take off without taking off the wheel. Perhaps I just never noticed this inconsistency with front brakes before but now that I notice I think it doesn't look right without them. If in fact they didn't come like this, can they be ordered?

Thanks.

My rear caliper doesn't have a cover either. I don't think it is supposed to. Note that it is much smaller than the front one.

The front ones don't have "covers".

Your rear ones didn't come like that, and you can't order covers because there aren't covers.

You could order new calipers that are painted with a logo on them, but you would then need to replace the whole brake caliper. You'd also need to have the dealership do this, as the brake system would need to be shutdown prior to work (with the Star Diagnosis system). Then the system would need bleeding via the computer.

Scorchie - perhaps I'm not referencing the part in question by the proper name - I'm referring to the part that squeezed the disc and (I think) must house the pads - maybe they're just brake pad covers. Regardless they can be seen through the gaps in the spokes. The front's have a mercedes benz logo on them but my rear's don't. Anyone else?

Those are the calipers...

And as I wrote, to change them would go through the procedure I laid out.

Mine have logos on them.

Confusing. OK here goes again - my front ones definately have the logos, my rear ones definately don't. Not sure why you say my front's don't and my rears didn't come that way. Since not a cover but rather part of the caliper itself the only way to change this would be to replace the actual caliper - this is impossible since my car has only been in service once and that had nothing to do with brakes. I just called MB service where I bought the car and guy looked at an 04 e500 which had no logos on any of the calipers (he couldn't confirm if it had appearance package or not and not sure if this has something to do with it). Anyway, responses are thus far inconsistent.

I didn't dispute whether you had logos or not. I am pretty sure you have logos on the front and not on the back, as you wrote.

All I was telling you is that there are no COVERS.

You can change your CALIPERS so you have logos on the back. MY CAR HAS LOGOS ON THE REAR CALIPERS. (As well as the front... but yours already has those so I didn't see fit to mention it.)

That's all.

no problem. I believe the reason you have them on all 4 must be that you drive an e55. Anyway, for all those others wondering, I just got off with my sales manager who confirmed that e500's with appearance only have the logos on the front. Not sure about non-appearance or 320's. Wheww - that's a relief.

But you can upgrade! Where's the fun in just leaving it alone?!?!

I think all E500s have logo caliper at the front and small non-logo caliper at the back. All E320s doesn't have logo caliper at all.
