2005 E-Class C/S Mode Question
Hi. Just purchased a used 2005 E-class. I have a question about the C/S mode. I've tried to search the thread for answers, but what are the biggest benefits between driving in C/S mode? I know they stand for comfort vs. standard.
Will I get better gas mileage compared between the two?
Is one better to drive in the summer vs winter?
Thanks!

Hi, the difference is that in C mode it starts in second gear both forward and in reverse, better for winter as its named winter mode in some cars (like in mine)
thats the only difference I know about.
Hope you enjoy your Mercedes

C suppose to give you earlier gear changes, but when you push the pedal to the floor, it gets overridden. But hill holding works on C.
If there is fuel saving - too small to measure.
I use it only for comfort. SL500 will burn the tires when on S each time I push the pedal by 50%.

As said, C starts in second gear. Unless you're at a light and mash the pedal, then it'll slam into 1st gear. The moral of the story is if you like jackrabbit starts, put the car in S mode.
