First time MBZ. Set on W211
ready to step up to the MBZ world. I fell in lust for the beautiful lines and experience of a 06 E350 a while back and decided that was the body style for me. Of course the ultimate would be.a E55 or E63. I found a beautiful E550 with low miles and am very close to pulling the trigger but I am wondering if I should hold off for an AMG car. Plans for the car are to lower with aftermarket wheels. Anyone out there been here before? Went out to dinner tonight and sure enough a W211 AMG was parked out front. Talk to me.

Stay away from '06 and 07 E350s, which have the expensive to fix balance shaft problem.
The early E63s have the head bolt issue, so buyer beware there as well.
Both the E550 and the E55 are fabulous cars - you'd probably be happy with either.
If the vehicle will be your daily driver and gas consumption is an issue then go with the 550, these V8 Mercedes are thirsty souls and practically live at the pump.

Be aware that airmatic suspension on e500 , e550 will be very expensive repairs. Find one with service records.

If you really want an AMG hold out for one. I'd drive the E63 and E55 to see which one you like better. The E55 has the torque while the E63 has the power higher up.
Both cars have their issues, so just do your research.

the E350 (in my case, an 09) with AMG style package...looks nice but is very tame. Think large camry/avalon comfort with barely any noise or sportiness (though it does have paddle shifters). good for a family/comfort. the 09s seem to be good since most issues were figured out <I hope>. also very cheap currently. (roughly 9k)
