Split rear-seat package description please

I did not order this option primarily because I have never seen it, and the MB brochure is very vague.

Is the pass-through the same size as the seat-back? Does the rear armrest lose it's storage capability with the ski sack?

Pics would really be appreciated.

The picture in the brochure is somewhat misleading. The picture looks as though the seat back folds down but does not open into the trunk. Not so.

One or both of the rear seat backs may be folded down. A seat release is located in the trunk on either side to release the seat backs. The seat cushions lift up and fold forward. The seat backs then fold flat. The seat cushions are removable to provide more room. The rear headrests are also removable.

The rear armrest is the same as for regular seats. The ski sack is located in a thin compartment in the seat back behind the armrest.

I don't have any pictures of the seats at the moment.

Thanks for the informative description. I have this option and had no idea that the cuishons fold forward, much less that they are removeable. I'm learning new things about this car all the time. ONe of these days I'll have to actually read the manual.

Thanks for the description. It sounds like a practicle addition for the price. I think I will ask my dealer if I can still add the option. My build date is 3rd week in July.

I noticed (actually my kids at first) that the rear seats with the fold down feature were not as comfortable... Perhaps they are made a little differently (less padding or different design) so they are able to fold down??? I opted not to get them because of this reason....

One minor benefit for some is that if you are not using the ski sack you can easily remove it and you have a semi-secret storage area.

I looked at this option last year before I purchased my E320 and did not care for the design at all. If you simply flip the seat backs down (without folding the bottom seat cushion forward and down) you risk having your leather scratched by the seat belt latch - I witnessed this on one of the cars at the dealership. Overall I found the system too cumbersome.
