03-04 Audio Problems? Echo?

I have an 03 with the phone and Hands Free. The dealer says there is nothing that he can do about the echo the other person hears when I am talking hands free. I was wondering if anyone had this feature on their 04 and if you were having the same problems. Or, does anyone have an 03 that had the problem fixed and if so how.

Thanks for any response. this echo is driving me crazy (or those who talk to me crazy).

Verizon. And I think it is the v-60 Motorola. It's the only phone you can get that will work and you have to get it from MB.

Do you have any ideas?

For Verizon, to update the cell tower information in your phone so that it uses the best network connections...

From within the area you are in most of the time...
1. Take the phone out of the cradle so you can listen to the phone directly.
2. Press * 228 <listen>
3. Choose "Option 2"
3. You will hear music, then when the phone is done downloading the data from Verizon you will get a loud Beeeeeep.
3. Turn the phone off, Turn the phone On.
4. Re install into cradle.

This tells the phone of any changes to the network & allows the phone to use the towers the most directly. VZ says you should do this monthly. My car was delivered to me in PA, I live on Long Island. I do it monthly.

Other than that, it IS a speakerphone & subject to "ambient room noise & accoustics"

I never saw any of those instructions in my Verizon paperwork but you were right, to update you choose option 2. You would have to know that because when you first dial the number the recording makes it soud like you are trying to activate your phone for the first time. Now I will see tomorrow if it helps the echo problem. And it was not the normal echo of a speakerphone. It was an obnoxious electronic echo. Hope this helps. I'll let you know.

Thanks,

Brad

And sometimes you have to do the update late at night or early in the morning when all the Verizon dealers are closed and not activating/updating phones, since the network can only accomodate so many DL's at a time.

I did it late last night with no access problem.

Did you have the echo problem and did this help it?

No one has ever complained to me about hearing it. and since its a speakerphone in the car, I don't care if they do hear it. The information of the phone call is still getting through & they can call me later on a land line if it pisses them off. I would have someone drive the car, & call you at home so you can listen & know if it is objectionable. (The car has to be moving at highway speed, etc for a fair test...)

If it still is like that, I would guess that you would have to uncradle the phone & try it on the phone directly while you drive the same stretch of road to see if it is the phone/car set-up/Verizon transmission capability in your neck of the woods...Hey, maybe its the nut on the other end of the line or their phone. Maybe some portion of your call is being handled by Satellite.
