I looked around the lot at the dealer today as we finalized our order--having to make choices because options are no longer available (standalone heated steering wheel and optional 4-place climate control).

Puddle lights are gone from most of the '04s in the lot. I remember seeing it on some early '05 CDIs. However it is gone now.

The ashtrays had...well...ashtrays!!! that pressed sheetmetal piece didn't look less expensive than a rubber mat.

And the cars were missing the shelf in the glove box. The shelf as nice in a way because of the low hinge. However without the lockable trunk, the larger space may be useful for a small camera or purse.

Well at least you have the climate controlled compartment... When you demand your rubber mat make sure to get one for me too

Definitely let me know what they say! I am quite curious!

Also, what are your thoughts on the car so far? And how does it compare to the A6?

They are lights under the side mirrors that light up the area surrounding the door when you unlock the doors at night. They are really not necessary but are just really cool.

Love it so far. Completely different animal compared to the V6 biturbo!

Love the smooth power of the V8. Haven't opened him up yet, though. It drives completely different than the A6. With all the technology, I feel more isolated from the road. Also, the SBC takes a bit of getting used to.

Can't wait 'til he's all broken in so I can really test it!

I do miss driving the A6, though. But I get attached to my cars.. lol!

How's your significant other feel with you having a nicer car than him?

lol He's never been much of a car nut. The E320 suits his driving style just fine - he's a very leisurely driver. Once in a while when he feels like doing some spirited driving, he'll take my car.

For the past few days he's been using my A6 and just told me how much faster it feels than his 320. You can really get addicted to that "kick in the butt" that you get when the turbos kick in. Unfortunately, you lose alot of that once the summer heat and humidity start up. I would've had to put alot of $$ in mods to get the A6 to where I wanted it to be for summer driving. So I figured I'd give a V8 a try.

Missing items on the new E-class

My grandpa has an 04 E320, and it has all of the items that are missing in your E500 and other people E's. He has the puddle lights and the rubber in the ashtray. But then again, his is a 10/03 build, which may be early in the 2004 model year. Were E-classes with a later build date decontented??.What other items were removed for 04??thanks!
