E350 known reliability issues?

Hi all,

I'm new to Mercedes (bmw owner) and I'm looking at getting a 2007-2009 E350 4matic wagon. Can you guys pitch in with what you know of being reliability issues, or things to check on the car before buying it?
Many thanks!

Luke

Balance shaft failure is an issue for Enigine types M272 and 273:

wagon has air suspension in back unlike the sedans. 2008 and 2009 are good drivers (and no SBC brake system or balance shaft issues) and well priced right now, some still eligible for warranties from used car dealers. too early to know what unique issues they have, at least from looking at this message board.

I had done a search through the forum. All I could find was the sbc brake and balance shaft, and basically to stay away from anything <2007. But I was wondering if there are any other issues of parts that may fail. For example the bmw's of those years had typical water pumps and high-pressure fuel pumps failures at certain mileages, then several very pricey rubber gaskets too. Reliability would be the only factor to have me consider the e350 wagon along the 535xi wagon, so that's why I'd much appreciate any extra insight here.
