messed up my smart key

Discovered my key fob went through the wash still in my pants pocket. Well, (no surprise), it didn't work. The batteries looked slightly corroded from the ordeal and when I replaced them last night, the fob worked! Now, this morning, it doesn't work. I made sure the inside was not moist before replacing the batteries. It was not. What gives? Does anyone know? Is my key fob corroded?

Anyone know how much a replacement is?

if car is still under warranty, take key to dealer and tell them key stopped working, and that you do not know why, do not explain that it went through the wash. let the dealer find this out for themselves, most likely they will order a new key for you at no charge, good luck. and remember in this case silence is a virtue

If they don't replace it for free I think you are looking at probably $90-125 for a replacement.

I just noticed that my sister's key for her 05 C240 is way smaller than my 99 CLK. When did they make the change and can I get the newer smaller key?

You can get the new smaller key just buy going to the dealer and buying the key. They no longer sell the larger one.
