High Fuel Consumption W211 E200
I’ve got an E200 Kompressor and the fuel consumption is quite high, averaging around 14.0l/100km+ or >20mpg. I cleaned the exhaust tips and I noticed that the carbon build up is coming back really quickly. This would mean a rick fuel mixture. What would be the cause of this and is there anything else I can do about the consumption?

Do you have a scanner that can read fuel trims?
Also, look for any obvious broken or deteriorating vacuum hoses in the engine bay.
I am having a similar situation. could also be the MAF
does it feel powerful at higher rpms but sluggish and hesitant in the lower range (1500-2500 rpms)

I have the same problem as u and can't figure it out. I thought its normal for a heavy car with a small engine like that? How much does it consume on the highway?
I got an average of 11l on highway and 14 to 15 city driving.
It can be the MAF sensor needs a cleanup, as it can give you the wrong or higher fuel mixture

Did anyone ever figure out the issue ? I've got the exact problem the op mentions, High consumption regardless of how I drive, and excessive carbon on the exhaust tips

11L/100km = 21.3 freedom units. That's awful for a 4 banger. Even the V8 can do better than that on the highway.
