Take a look in your glove compartment. If there is a connection which permits you to insert an audio plug, that would be the best way to connect the MP3 player to your sound system. The sound system should let you select "aux", which would then run the output of the MP3 player through the sound system. You could use the MP3 player on a temporary basis, or you could have one permanently installed, in which case you might well want to use the services of a professional installer. I believe that you can get a feeling for this by searching the forum for satellite radio, MP3, and ipod; also look in the electronics forum.
Unfortunately, my glove compartment was bare. I had to have the installer hook up the XM radio by using an RF device, which essentially broadcasts the signal into your radio's antenna. You access the signal by tuning the radio to the frequency used by the RF device (there will be a choice so as to avoid interference with actual radio stations). Theoretically the sound isn't as good as if there were a direct connection, and you presumably will have to have a professional installer do the work, but in fact the sound is quite good, and this solution has worked out well for me.
Good luck.
