running lean
my 2003 e500 does not have any engine codes currently but i have noticed a bit of a power drop.
ive been monitoring the cars fuel trims and long term on both banks are around 10 currently.
smoked the engine out and cant find any vacuum leaks at all.
the car once in a while will not start on the first key turn but will on the second key turn. this happens rarely.
i started suspecting a fuel issue so i tested fuel pressure and it sits normally at 55 psi at idle and doesnt appear to drop as you rev the engine.
i was going to check injector spray patterns and flow next but something tells me its the fuel filter or pump. perhaps even the fuel pressure regulator
these cars have a returnless fuel system and im unsure of how to test it properly. am i on the right track though anyhow?
btw, if i take off one of the intake tubes and listen in the intake, i can hear random light popping, which sounds to me like a slight misfire. idle is a little rough but barely noticeable.
