P0015, P0016, P0017 error codes
Hi Everyone,
It is in regard to the following stored error codes:
P0015 - Continuous camshaft adjustment (RIGHT): Incorrect position of the exhaust
P0016 - Constant adjustment of intake camshaft of right cylinder bank in direction 'Retarded'
P0017 - Constant adjustment of exhaust camshaft of right cylinder bank in direction 'Retarded'
My car: 2006 MB E350 4Matic
Engine number: 272972
Last six digits of the V.I.N.: ...187646
I have been having problem with these codes for a while now.
They come back almost immediately after clearing them.
Yes, I read all of the posts. However, this time I would like to find out about the MB's responsibility for this problem.
I contacted the Customer Service at cs.can@cac.mercedes-benz.com
NO response - as usual.
I contacted my local MB stealership - in person, phone calls and through many emails.
Please see the last brushing me off (again!) email from the Service Manager himself.
Question: Does any one know about ANY recall for this specific issue in CANADA?
Why wouldn't he answer my questions?
Why am I deprived of the answers?
What are they hiding?
Please share.
Thank you,
Pitek

I was not able to attach the photo (jpg) with my above post.
I will quote the Service Manager's reply:
"Hello ...
I am reading your emails, and I am not trying to be difficult.
I am aware of the codes, unfortunately I cannot give this information out."

You mean you read this entire thread?
https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...nce-shaft.html
They didn't do anything about it either in the US although some dealers offered some goodwill help, but that was on a case by case basis. There was some settlement at some point but only applied to the US and was a limited amount and it already expired.
No idea about Canada, but usually the US has the best support, extended 25 year warranties on SBC and 15 years on the fuel tank which probably doesn't apply in other countries.
Basically all 2006 models were in the affected range of a possible bad balance shaft and you have the codes for it.
You can keep driving it like that for a few thousand more miles, but eventually it won't start.

Hi konigster,
Thank you for your quick and precise/detailed answer. I greatly appreciate it.
May I use those two documents in my further "fights" with the local MB stealer on the Canadian soil, please?
Thank you again,
Pitek
