NTG 1 Stereo head unit short circuit?

Hello MB World! Long time lurker, first time poster here...

I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me diagnosis the following:

Driving my 2007 E350 home last night, the screen on my stock head unit flashed and the radio cut out. Shortly after, I smelled a faint burning odor. I was a little worried about the smell, so I even pulled over and looked under the hood in case it was coming from there. After checking that out and noticing no glaring issues, I got back in the car and the smell had already started to fade. Playing around with the head unit a bit, I am able to power it on to see the MB logo, but it fades away and the unit seems to shut off after 10 seconds or so. The audio never plays during this power on/off. I've also noticed that when I try to access panel over the CD player, that will not open as well.

My initial thought was that a fuse went out, since I can not activate the panel to the CD player. However, if that were the case, I wouldn't be able to see the MB logo?

Would anyone out there have any thoughts on what is causing this? I've attached a video below.
