20" wheels... fitment problem... advice please

Hi guys,
I bought a set of 20" wheels for my 2003 Mercedes E270 CDi avantgarde. I fitted a set of 245/35 tyres up front. But the thread of the bolt on the top control arm touches the tyre. So I decided to cut the thread off flush against the nut. This then gives it a couple of mm clearance but when the car is put down and I turn the steering the nut touches the tyre still..
What I am thinking to do tomorrow is maybe get a 235/30 tyre on and see if that will free up some clearance. Do you guys maybe know how much clearance is needed for it to be safe?
Thanks guys

you took care of it. to run a 20" 35series you have to shave the bolt
see if you can do 235/35
