S211 Rear lock and wiper partial fault? Please help!
Does anyone know why my rear door will soft close but not lock (wagon) with the central locking (no option for key lock, remote locking only) AND my rear wiper does not work from stalk/switch on steering column but the rear wiper does function as it should when front wipers are switched on and I select reverse? (Wiper motor is working) Is this one fault or two separate faults.

On my 05 the rear wiper controls are on the center console beside the central locking buttons.
FOr the rear door, are you saying that even if your car is locked you can open the rear liftegate by pressing the button above the license plate?

As mine is a late 2006 (facelift model) there are a number of differences. All wiper controls are on the left stalk of the steering column.
The rear door opens via a flap type handle, which is pressed upward with the fingers. Part number 10 in this diagram. (there is no button) and yes it does still open when all other doors are locked via the remote central locking and activate the alarm system.
This is the only way to lock the rear door as there is no key hole for manual locking.
I think it might be part number A2118000075 part number 30 in this diagram which is called 'Ellement central locking system' BUT would this part affect my rear wiper? Anyone?
Thank you for your reply.

I’m thinking it’s the locking mechanism, fastener as MB calls it (100 in diagram). Symptoms doesn’t lock/opens when locked, rear wiper not functioning because door is not locked (rear swipe in reverse is triggered differently). Pulled compatible part #s from USA 07 211.287 to shop used/new should be the same if you want confirmation post VIN.

That was my thought initially but I have now replaced this twice, firstly a refurbished unit and then (under their warranty) another refurbished unit. Therefore I think the problem must be elsewhere, especially as the rear wiper function is partially affected.
What are your thought on part number A2118000075 (30) in the diagram which is I believe is called 'Ellement central locking system' could this affect both the central locking and the rear wiper? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your reply

Hi,
Thank you for your reply, my car doesn't have the automatic rear-end door closing system or Keyless-Go unfortunately, just soft close. I was wondering if there is some way to reset the central locking which might be part of the problem.
