E320 Standard Headlights - How Good?

E320 Standard Headlights - How Good?

Hi all. Plan to order a E320 CDI this week and do tourist delivery.

I have one decision yet to be made: to order HID lights or no? My inclination is no, as the HIDs on our '00 BMW 528i are mediocre at best. However, I see CU was very unimpressed with the standard headlights on the E320 they tested recently.

So if you have the standard headlights, please help me out: Would you consider them miserable, fair or superior to other cars you've owned?

I think they are as good as halogen lights can be. HID is better and would be my preference if you would like that bright look.

I agree 100%.... and the active feature will truley amaze you as well....Definatly worth every penny... G.L with your decision.

Worth noting that many owners have found it nescessary to "adjust" the hight of the headlight alignment despite MB tech confirming that the range was within spec. This relates primarily to Bi-xenons but MAY be equally pertinent to other types too. If you search for a releated thread it will show pics of what needs adjusted and by how much on average. It takes about 1 minute to do the adjustment.

Since I couldn't wait for the car (expected 6-8 months for a car with lighting pkg and premium pkg and the color combo) I went with just the halogens. These projectors are okay...wish i could see more of the road but thas what you get with halogens!

I would've definitely got the Lighting Pkg if I wasn't so impatient and if my dad didn't rush the decision. I can't put anything on it as he leased it....

This is my second car with HID and I will never buy another car without them. The active cornering bi-zenons are incredible, especially on high beams.
