Added power trunk retrofit! Works great! Vids
Found a how to on the amg w211 sub forum of a gentleman retrofitting the power trunk option.
Our w211 e350 didn't have this feature. My wife's Lexus did and I never really thought it was needed or warranted until I started using her suv for stuff... finding that how to and the buying the parts off eBay I think total cost (I'd have to add everything up) was under $500. Definitely nice. Only thing I bought brand new was the wiring harness to connect everything... everything else was take offs/used via eBay. Got some pretty good deals as well!
SUCCESS! Used STAR to initiate and normalize everything. See two videos below that I quickly took.
Works perfectly!
Outside opening trunk then using trunk button to close.
Other video is using the interior door switch to then open/close the trunk. LOVE IT!!!!

Thanks! Really nice feature. You would have thought this would have actually been much harder than the stupid rear overhead console ambient light that I am trying to get working. I still can't figure out why that isn't working properly at all. Almost nill information out there about it and from the little info on forums it does seem like some of the facelifted w211 did have it. I just can't understand why something that "should" be plug and play and just work doesn't. The chances of getting two defective rear consoles to me is super rare since both peeps said it was fully functional and I believe them with 100% feed back..etc.
I think the hardest part for this retrofit was removing the rear headrests in order to lift up the rear shelf after removing the rear c pillar trim. Everything else was rather straight forward with the install and I actually did some wire management in the trunk from the previous owner who had a sub/amp installed. I just have to put everything else back together this weekend..
