Chipped Cdi
Anyone else chip theirs yet?
Thanks,
David
The experts may correct me, and should if I'm incorrect here, but I do know that, at least in the case of my '99 E-300 DT, the computer must be "opened up" and a reprogrammed (REPROM) chip be installed in the place of the original factory one. In my case, the UpSolute installer in my area did not have the proper chip to flash with the program which he did have, and by the time he finally got a new blank chip, he seemed to loose interest in doing the job, and "stood me up" and failed to keep our installation appointment. Hence, mine was never chipped unless someone had done that prior to my ownership of the car. No matter, because it does run like a scaled cat!
In the case of my '95 SS, an expert loaded (many different times) his programs into a machine, and then plugged that machine into the connection under the dash and downloaded or transferred his program directly into my onboard computer. This isn't possible in the later cars such as my '02 TDI, or the above mentioned '99 E-300 Turbodiesel.
Having seen how small and crowded the insides are of my computer, it is entirely possible that there could be a cold solder joint or perhaps a splash over or something else that was done during that chip exchange to be causing your problem. If you were to see the installer work on your computer, you would understand what I'm trying to convey.
Just my thoughts on the subject.
I found this forum using a 30-second search on Yahoo, which mean MBUSA can do the same thing. I would hesitate to say any chip is "undetectable," especially if you brag about it on a public forum.

He connected his computer up to the diagnostic connection and it printed out a 12 foot high mountain of information. I should think it would contain the date of birth of the builders grand children.
I would be surprised if it did NOT show any fluctuations in fuel flow. (especially excessive flow when a vehicle has been chipped)Sadly the only thing that goes with chips is fish
