Anti-freeze coolant type???????

So, from my previous research, I went ahead and purchased Zerex G-05 to do a flush.
The original that drained out was blue and the G-05 is golden yellow.
My E500 is a 2005 and yes it was still the original coolant as my car only has 16,000 miles. I figured it was due to be changed, ha!!!!
So what's the correct coolant for my car that had blue as original??????

Zerex G-48 (blue) meets MB-Approval 325.0 which is for all Mercedes vehicles manufactured before April 2014.

Those MY have coolant replacement every 15 years or 150k miles. The proper change also require new chem pack, what is internal part of MB reservoir. Beware that some aftermarket reservoirs don't have chem packs.
If you plan to keep MB for years, you need to figure out your maintenance politics.
Some owners seek $2 or $5 savings and cut the corners to do so. I have mechanical education and practice, but that still is not allowing me judging fluid quality (although I can tell mild steel from hardened by tapping).
Short story is that I am not wasting anybody time on $5 saving dilemma and simply buy MB brand fluid, or German equivalents available on the net.

Never had a problem with generic green coolant. But go ahead, waste your money.

Ok, so I contacted Zerex (Valvoline) tech support and the G-05 is not 325.0 spec rated where it may have been in the past. The G-48 does meet that spec.
I said screw it and went to the dealer for the genuine 325.0 Blue coolant.....

The correct spec for your car (M113 engine) is 325.6 or 326.6 (premix), not 325.0/ 326.0:

This would mean G40 (only), they changed it 2014 obviously for reasons of durability.

However, G48 still also should be a way to go...

Can anyone confirm if this coolant tank sold by FCP Euro has the chem pack?

https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/mer...049-2115000050

I just installed one of these and am about to perform a coolant flush. Glad I saw this thread, because I have Zerex G-05 ready to go in but now I may return it for some OEM blue stuff.

"Made in China" ?
When I buy lot of Chinese stuff, I would ask FCP about the chem pack. They should know, if not they are in wrong business.

Much ado about nothing. Generic green coolant will do the job just as well. There's nothing special about the metallurgy and seals in your Mercedes cooling system.

I got genuine Mercedes coolant and reservoir tank (with the chem pack) from RM European. Very good pricing and fast, free shipping. No cutting corners and takes all the guesswork out of it.
