What is this noise (video)
Lately I hear this noise when driving, at any speed. This video shows the noise at highway speeds. You can really start to hear it at about 15 seconds in.
Cant be rear diff, the noise was present before that.
I was thinking something with brakes as it gets louder with braking. Maybe a bad tire? Any advise would help me out as I do not have a mechanic so before I go to someone and they sell me some lie I would like to know what I'm getting into.

I'd check wheel bearings, can you get a sense of what side or front back. does it get worse if you swerve the car left/right or low speed sharp turns with and without the brakes on.

I was thinking it was the bearing however, I really hear it in the front. more so the passenger side. Its not very loud. No play in steering wheel, slight vibration but maybe tires are out of balance.. I initially thought my rear differential was a wheel bearing but $1200 later I found out it wasn't. Could bad pads or rotors cause a noise like this? Keep in mind I hear this noise without engaging brake.

What I would do is jack up each front wheel one at a time, put your hands at 12:00 and 6:00 on the tire and push and pull opposite to each other and see if there is any play (should be none at all). Also spin the wheel and see if there is a noise, if there is you should be able to determine where the sound is coming from like the wheel bearing, the brakes or the rotor dragging hard in the caliper.

bringing the car in for an alignment today, I will ask them to check it out. its almost a scraping noise.

Maybe it's as simple as a brake dust shield got slightly bent and its rubbing on the rotor then, hopefully it's a good shop that's familiar with MB cars.

I just did all the rotors and pads on my 2007 E550 for around $400, I bought zimmerman rotors and Brembo pads. It's pretty easy to do yourself. Is lots of info on this forum for DIY.
