In my personal experiences, most of the time the other driver is of middle age and they don't look or anything. Once I gave this driver on the freeway a friendly smile because we had the same color, when he saw me he actually slowed down and changed lanes. Mainly, drivers in my age bracket are usually cool about it. But i agree that mercedes are a dime a dozen in my area (newport beach). The cars that really gets paid any attention is like a ferrari/lambo/something exotic.

I know this sounds weird..

I actually get more chicks checking me out in my 93 red sunbird then my 2004 E500.. I guess the red just grabs their eyes.. (??)

Also, I guess the girls I notice are pretty young and not interested in a car thier dad would drive..

Oh well.. I am sure though, any girl, once in the car would change their mind.. Hehe..

Hmmmm maybe it's really cause everyone think's I'm driving daddy's car. Oh well their lost, I knoe it's my car....WAHAHAHAHAHAHA It would be kinda hard to imagine an older korean "dad" fixing up his E55. That was really surprise me if I saw something like that. I mean anyone can put down 10 grand and get some brabus rims and the kit but go out of their way to get HRE's and other things that are a lil less known such as the WALD kit...Oh well....

Doesn't really happen to me. Prolly cuz my mom girlified and uglified it. Only ones who look tend to be people my parents' age. People my age look at me more when I drive my actual car. Guess it's cuz it looks more like a young person's car. Either way, they both don;t attract much attention cuz SoCal has so many of them.

Is your car polished to the 9s? Actually I can't understand the interest in cosmetically modifying a 4-door sedan. If you want performance or if you want style, there are always going to be other cars that do it better.

The most radical 4-door sedans are the Chrysler 300 (hard to believe someone is mass producing a car with a 30's gangster look) and the new Rolls (a parody of 50's and early 60's Rolls). Nothing you will reasonably do to a W211 can compare.

If you want to turn heads drive a Silver Cloud III (fewer $$$ than your W211) or a '37-39 Buick with sidemounts (less than $12k, we got ours for $7k, the Duke of Windsor had 2 36s). If you want a comfortable, luxurious mid-sized 4-door, the the W211 is a great choice.

You need to put some 22s on that 300C.

Weird that a W210-based car can have some better attributes than the original... like being able to fit 22s.

DCX no doubt anticipated that people would want to adorn a Kartoon Kar like the 300 with oversize wheels. They probably did not anticipate that some people would want to do the same with a far more serious car like the E-class. Surprise, surprise.

What really surprises me is the negative effect on handling and ride. My guess is a W211 will ride best and handle best on 16" rims, assuming tire construction and compound are the same.

The taller sidewalls just give additionally springing for ride and camber compensation for handling. Transients may be a little quicker on the large diameter rims, however you would have to be on an tight autocross course for that to be more advantageous than getting the power down coming out of the turns.

I live in a pennsylvania and currently drive a 325ci with 19" SSR GT3's and get plenty of looks from the ladies. But I have a black 2004 E500 coming in a week or so and I hope it gets more looks than the beemer does! But I'm also told I have the cutest smile . I think the CLS may be a stunner!

How do you avoid bending those rims. Large parts of Pennslyvania have potholes!!!

Where do you live??? I'm sure I don't get as many looks becaues W211's are a dime a dozen where I live...Yeah mine may stick out a lil bit but not to the point of people wanting to look over because they knoe they will see another W211 a block down the street. Sadly I live where everyone and their parents drive this car...

If you put 22s on it, there won't be enough room for the 3" wide white sidewalls.

The only car we get noticed in is the '38 Buick, and few with the '94 Supra TT. But they are all guys in their 20s and 30s saying "Do you want to sell your car?"
