Will a 272 hp E350 come soon?
BMW will have a 3.0l 250 hp I-6 for the 530i soon which will be put in other BMWs and the next 3 series. It has similar torque when compared to the "previous" 3.0l I-6.
When will MB make an E350? The 2005 Mercedes-Benz SLK350 has 272 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. Won't the new 3.5l V-6 be used in the new CLS?

Just read on the CLS forum that the CLS is now available for order in Europe. The CLS 350 with 272hp will be standard along with the 7G-TRONIC tranny. Base on the CLS350 will be 54,346 Euro's, with the CLS500 somewhere close to 67,000 Euro's.
I don't know where this fits in the scheme of things with the E Class. The interior looks like an updated E Class interior with a "Jag" wood dash. Squeezing the CLS between the E and the S is a tight fit in my eyes. Oh well...we will see in early '05 where the pricing works out.
