BlueTec Pressure Control Valve leak
In my 2008 BlueTec (172,000 miles) when recently replacing air & fuel filters I noticed small oil leak had come from the crank case pressure control valve (bleeder valve) and had very slowly dripped to the exhaust manifold.
I replaced it with with a new OEM valve and opened up the old one for inspection. There was indeed a tiny crack in the diaphragm!
No doubt this had caused some excess oily fumes going into the turbo / intake manifold, and also made a little mess under the turbo.
(The induction line to turbo orange colored seal was replaced during last air filter change about 19,000 miles ago).
Too bad, it was a perfectly clean engine compartment before this happened!
I will keep a close eye on this in future and also made a small baffle out of thin aluminum sheet to catch and at least redirect possible future leaks.
