Key issues
I'm aware that I'm a new member asking about an issue that seems quite common - Please bear with me, I've spent hours googling!
I've got a 2004 W211 estate. Very recently the key fob buttons haven't worked, from a distance or close up (I've no idea if IR still works though)
I've checked fuse 8 and that is fine, I don't have the radio antenna connected so unsure if this is working. Rear washer is fine.
With the key close by I can still use the keyless entry feature on the one door that still works and on the boot, this bit confuses me, if the RF is working for the handles why doesn't it work for the fobs? To make things more interesting it seems to be intermittent, one day it works, the next it doesn't.
Doesn't anyone have any idea what could be going on? Thanks for your time.

Every key can be used around 300.000 times.
U can try to swap battery's in ur key. I believe they are CR 20 something.
If u got an advanced reader like Das or Arbitus then u can see how much u have left in the key turns.

It's not intermittent now, it's all the time. Makes me think it could be a broken cable somewhere?
